I'm often asked which laptop should I buy for my son or daughter, and/or should I buy a Mac or Windows device. Here is my usual answer...
Check these sites first if you have a device or budget in mind:

If you are familiar with the operating system (Mac or Windows) then stick with it. Don't let your son or daughter persuade you otherwise - they will often choose the 'cool tool' not necessarily the 'right tool'.
If they are a gamer then choose a Windows device. If your children are into graphic design, music or video editing/production then get a Mac.
