First Meeting in VR - Day 19

I know it's the 21st and I should be on Day 19!

Today I met virtually with 3 librarians in Bangkok in a VR space called AltspaceVR using the Oculus Go.

 My first impressions:

1) great potential for a virtual Art gallery (or similar) for students work

2) conversations were surprisingly fluid; hand gestures, head movement etc were almost real time

3) Presentation (via Google Slides) was slow to advance slides

4) use a swivel chair (less tiring than constantly moving your head)

5) teleport rather than click to move

6) broadcast audio so everyone in the room can hear you (nice touch that the volume changes when you move away from them)

Next steps: need to create my own space (a version of the School perhaps) and explore what can be added. It could be a really good space to introduce others to the potential learning opportunities this technology has.

Ps Hat-tip to Phillip Williams at NIST for having the idea and setting it up :)
