Day 4 on the slopes was a windy one. Instructors have said that the first two days of sunshine was uncharacteristic for Niseko. Whilst this was wonderful to start, the snow was rapidly melting. Winds have now started to blow in from Russia and with it comes the snow!
The rain last night, teamed with heavy snowfall today has given us some challenging conditions on the slopes. Fear not... the students embraced this and have all come out better skiers because of it. Some started the day a little nervous but have ended the day as skiing champions.
Lily has had a shout out today from her peers for the progress she's made. She's also providing lots of entertainment in the chalet and an absolute pleasure to have on the trip. Nico is flying down the piste looking like a pro. He listens to the feedback from his instructor and continues to improve day by day. Other entertainment for the day has been the snow that has been freezing on Mr Osbourne's beard. From a distance its made him look like he's aged 40 years... or maybe that's being in charge of the Year 10 boys chalet...
This evening's dinner was Taco Tuesday which went down a treat. Students then headed back out to the slopes for a choice of night skiing or sledging. We were a little worried about how motivated they'd be after a cold day on the piste, but they all genuinely loved it. Lucilla, Paro and Will spent the evening racing, whilst others attempted 360's on their skis or in and out of slaloms.
We know that tomorrow's conditions will continue to be windy and snowy, with the added bonus of powder! We are looking forward to seeing how the students continue to adapt to the new conditions. They have all gone to bed having had a very physical day, but knowing that they are waking up to pancakes in the morning!
Day 4 - over and out.
