Day 5 - Wednesday 21st February

We are pleased to report that the wind has dropped today! Our instructors told us that yesterday was some of the hardest conditions they've had to teach in all season. Kudos to our students for cracking on and not making a fuss. This is what helps build resilience and determination. They are now equipped to take on any ski conditions!

Temperatures today averaged about -7. Less wind and more powder made for a fantastic day on the slopes. Our 2 beginner groups managed to ski down a few black runs - very impressive.  For reference, these are the hardest runs on the mountain, with the exception of off piste territory.

Kevin won the ski race and was awarded the best technique in his group for today. Frank was given another shout out for the amount of wipeouts he's had today. Panic not, he is absolutely fine and it means that he's working hard to challenge himself! Multiple students attempted mini jumps and rails today. Some with more success than others, but all with smiles and laughter.

We need to dedicate a paragraph to Coach Adam who's had an absolute corker of a day. He is the first (and hopefully only) member of the group to fall off a chair lift. To confirm...this was at the exit point and not mid air. He needs a little work on his dismount timing. On this occasion, Coach Adam stayed on too long, swung round the corned and then decided that jumping off into a heap on the snow was a better option that being taken all the way back down the mountain. Coach Adam also attempted some powder skiing between a few trees today. The trees won...

For dinner we had a Japanese style burger which went down a treat. The students then enjoyed an evening of baking with a choice of either ginger bread men or ice cream making. Interested to see which team comes out on top when the Les Elfes staff announce their Masterchef winner! They have also attempted some casino skills or board games so have had yet another jam packed day.

We cannot end our blog without saying a huge Happy Birthday to Nico! What better way to wake up that being cooked pancakes by Mr Osbourne, cementing his 5* chalet experience rating on Trip Advisor.  Nico has been sang to by the entire group of staff, students and instructors and delivered a personalised birthday cake. That along with a day of skiing is a birthday to remember!

Time is starting to go very quickly and with only 2 days left skiing, students are making the most of every moment.

What excitement will Thursday bring...
