In the spirit of giving, our Year 6 students led a heartwarming Christmas initiative to support children affected by human trafficking through the charity A21. As part of the project, students brought in backpacks filled with carefully chosen gifts—ranging from toys and school supplies to warm clothing and hygiene items—all intended to bring comfort and joy to children in need.
Each backpack was packed with thoughtfulness, with students considering what might bring happiness to a child who may be facing difficult circumstances. Some even included handwritten cards or drawings to add a personal touch and a message of hope.
This project was not just about giving gifts; it was about empathy, action, and standing in solidarity with others around the world. It followed classroom discussions about human rights and the work A21 does to protect and restore the lives of children who have experienced trafficking and exploitation.
The response from the Year 6 community was truly inspiring. We were overwhelmed by the generosity shown by students and their families, and the joy with which they approached the project. Each backpack represents not just a gift, but a message: you are seen, and you are cared for.
Thank you to all who contributed. Through this act of kindness, our students reminded us what the true spirit of Christmas is all about.
