Year 3 Times Tables-athon – Supporting Learning and Giving Back!
This term, our Year 3 students will be taking part in the exciting annual Times Tables-athon—a fun and meaningful sponsored times tables challenge. This event is designed not only to support our chosen charity, Thomas House, but also to help children build confidence and fluency in their times tables.
Throughout the lead-up to the event, students will challenge themselves by choosing three times tables to practise, focusing on those they want to improve. The goal is not competition with others, but personal progress—encouraging each child to develop quick recall and strengthen their mathematical understanding. This skill is essential, as it supports learning across many areas of maths, including fractions, area, and problem-solving.
On Wednesday, 20th May, students will take part in a 4-minute speed challenge, answering as many questions as they can. In preparation, they are encouraged to practise regularly using a variety of engaging methods such as flashcards, online games, songs, and quick-fire questions at home.
Students will also collect sponsorships from family and friends, with all funds raised going towards supporting Thomas House. Sponsorship forms will be shared, and we kindly ask that completed forms and donations are returned to school shortly after the event.
