We are so very grateful to Bangkok Patana for their generosity and willingness to support our neighbours in Klong Toey.
Grapongdaeng preschool is planning on undertaking major renovations to help make it a better and safer place for the kids long term. The Community Centre, which it is a part of, is a place of hope for the community and with upgraded facilities it will be an even better space and allow for more opportunities in providing safe spaces for vulnerable children to develop.
The overall plan for the renovations is to repair and rebuild some of the structures, paint, build new bathrooms for the kids attached to the classrooms, a new lunch area, create new rooms for activities such as a computer room and English teaching room/activity room, upgrade the playground equipment and outdoor sports area, and replace the current roof, which leaks constantly in heavy rains and continues to destroy many resources due to water damage.
The total budget for the whole project is between 4.5-5 million THB and will take part in stages. The roof replacement for all the buildings is estimated at around 500,000THB. We are assisting them with finding the funds and are grateful that we are able to help in this way, especially as we have been blown away by peoples generosity including Bangkok Patana. We are incredibly grateful to Bangkok Patana for fundraising and investing in the education of vulnerable children in Klong Toey, we couldn't do this without you. Your donation towards the roof replacement really helps us reach our target.
The aim is to begin renovations at the beginning of June once the necessary approvals and plans have been approved. The renovations will take a few months to complete but we will keep you updated with how the renovation is progressing and will send photos of the roof replacement progress.
