A note from the Principal

8 March 2024

A note from the Principal

This week, we thoroughly enjoyed our World Book Day celebrations, with a range of activities across the whole school. I was lucky enough to be the ‘Mystery Reader’ for Year 4 and we got to enjoy one of my favourite story books ‘The Wonky Donkey.’ Yeee haaa!

On Tuesday, I spent a wonderful 90 minutes with our parents for a parent partnership workshop looking at homework. If you could like to view the slides, they are here. Please do continue to attend our workshops, they are full of diverse and lively topics and we love to see you involved.

Good luck to 3F, 3G, 3D and 3M who are off on Residential next week!

Wellbeing

Residential - Next week! (for some)!

The Residential Blog page has been set up in preparation for our forthcoming trips. It can be found on the Year 3 page here. The recent parent letter (including packing list) is here along with information about picking up your child from school when they return from Royal Varuna Yacht Club.

There is a separate post for each of the four trips. The most recently updated post will appear at the top of the blog page. We will share a photo of the whole group on arrival on this page. In the evening of each full day, we will share a photo of each class along with information about our activities. Class teachers will share further residential photos on their own class blog pages on our return to school.

World Book Day - Book donation

We invite families to donate a brand-new children’s book (Thai Language Please) which will passed to one of our charities:

  • FS - Home of Praise (age 2-5)
  • Y2 - Children of the Forest (age 5-11)
  • Y3 - Thomas House (age 5-11)
  • Y4 - Mercy Centre (age 5-11)

If you wish to donate a book, your child should hand it to their class teacher during the month of March.

Timestable-athon

The children have done a brilliant job learning their timestables and enjoyed seeing their progress.

Please can you send any sponsorship money raised into school and hand to your class teacher.

Inventors Day

Put Thursday 4th April into your diary!

On this day, we are going to have 'Inventor's Day'. Year 3 students are invited to dress up as:

  • an inventor or
  • an invention

If they choose to dress up as an inventor, they could also make and bring in an example of their invention (e.g. a homemade calculator or homemade phone).

They will need to find out all about their invention:

  • who invented it?
  • why did they invent it?
  • where was it invented?

Learning

Y3 Curriculum Term 2B

This Term the childen will be learning about Inventions: Throughout history, people have imagined and then created new things to make their lives better, easier, and more enjoyable. From the wheel to penicillin to the computer, inventions continue to change the way we live. This theme introduces students to the amazing world of inventions — they'll learn about famous inventors, explore everyday inventions, discuss the "Top 10" inventions of all time, and even imagine a new invention for the 21st century.
If you would like to find out more about our learning please take a look at the curriculum pages here patana.fireflycloud.asia/year-3/year-3-curriculum/term-2-discovering-our-world
