Living our Values

We are balanced and fulfilled

This week the children enjoyed Assembly with a special performance by the Y3 teachers. The Mystery of the Gloopy Glue! This was a lovely way to get the children excited about their upcoming learning and also to ensure they all know about Roald Dahl day on the 12th September, more information below!

The children have been really engaged in their learning and are getting to grips with the learning and routines in Y3.

Well-being

It was lovely to see so many parents at the Introduction to the learning meetings this week. Working in partnership, parents and teachers is so valuable for your children. If you were unable to come to the meeting you can see a copy of the slides on your child's blog page which can be found here. The blogs are updated weekly and it is a lovely way for you to be able to see what your child has been doing at school.

Before School!

Before school starts at 7.30 the Y3  children are allowed to play on the Y3  playground. During this time they are not allowed to go on the equipment. They are aware of this but might need a few reminders! It would be great if you could help us with this!

Snack Bar!

This week the children have been learning about the snack card and from Monday onwards they will be able to buy snacks before playtime. If your child is going to use the Snack Bar please ensure:

  • They have a lanyard for their snack card
  • They need to bring in some money on Monday to put onto their card.

Here is the price list to help you guide your child:

From Monday school will no longer provide snacks in the Year group. We provide plain or soymilk for every student each break time, if they so wish.

If your child would prefer they are welcome to bring their own snack in for snack time.

Nut Free Primary School

Please ensure any snack or Birthday cakes/doughnuts that come into school are nut free. This is to ensure we are keeping all our students safe as ewe have some students in the Y3/4 Building who have severe nut allergies.  Thank you for your help with this.

School Uniform Reminders

Hair

If your child has long hair please can you ensure it is tied up everyday for school.

School Shoes

  • Students should wear black shoes that support the whole foot and allow them to be active. On PE days they should have trainers in their bag and change back into school shoes after PE.

School Jumper

  • Only the blue school cardigan should be worn at school

Watches

  • We encourage the children to wear a digital or analogue watch to help them learn the time.
  • We recognise many students are wearing  Smart watches. These are not necessary in school and often cause distraction from the learning. If you wish your child to continue to wear one,  it must be set to class mode.

Learning

Roald Dahl Day

In preparation for Roald Day day, please can your child bring in a glass jar (with the label removed and with a lid. We will be using these to create Dream Jars! Each child will need one, but if you have more than one that would be great!

We also need to restock out junk modelling supplies. Please can you send in any boxes, card tubes, yoghurt pots etc. so the children can change them into amazing models!

Y3 Curriculum Term 1a

This term our learning is based around the books of Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake.

If you would like more information about our curriculum please visit our Curriculum page here

Reading Books

The children will be changing their reading books every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This week the children have been given a reading book based on their stage from Year 2, and from reading with their new teacher.

Please can you support your child by encouraging reading at home, either reading to you or a sibling and helping to remind them to bring their books in (if finished) on book change days.

Y3 Interclass Football

For various Interclass events during the year, each class is assigned a colour for their class team. The first interclass event football and is on the 29th of September.  For this event the children will need to wear a T-shirt in the colour as per the chart below:

PE

POLITE PE NOTICE:

Now that Year 3 students are changing in different locations for their PE and swimming lessons, please check that PE kit and uniforms are clearly labelled with your child’s name and class.

This is extremely helpful in returning left, lost or accidentally swapped items back to their rightful owners!

Global Citizenship

Everyone loves good manners and we are starting our year by ensuring our students say 'Hello' to each other and different teachers they meet. In classes the teachers will also be reinforcing:

  •  Excuse me
  • Please
  • Thank you
  • Sorry

Birthdays

Happy Birthday this week goes to....
