Christmas Shoebox Appeal for Children of the Forest
Year 2 will once again collect Christmas Shoeboxes in support of our charity Children of the Forest.
We would like to ask your help to support our chosen Year 2 charity, Children of the Forest, at this festive time of year. They are a registered charity close to the Thai-Myanmar border, which supports stateless and homeless children with education, healthcare and welfare. It is our aim to send a shoebox of small gift items for each child to have on Christmas Day to make the day extra special for them too.
The charity has requested the following items:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Soap
- Face cloth
- Coloured pencils
- Colouring book
- Small pack of sweets
- Small snack (eg. small pack of potato chips or similar)
- Small packet of biscuits
- Small toy suitable for either a boy or girl.
If the purchased items can be put into a shoebox and covered in Christmas wrapping paper but please do not seal the box. The lid can be covered separately.
With the aim of being fair, we would like to ask that you keep to the list above so that each child gets a similar gift box.
Please ensure all items are new, clean and suitable as gifts.
To make the giving of the shoe box more meaningful, it would be lovely for your child to be involved in the choosing and buying of the items, if possible. We would love to see any photos that we can share in school – please email them to your child’s class teacher.
If you would like your child to participate, please send your shoebox into school between Friday 3rd and Friday 10th December.
Your kindness and support makes a significant difference to improving these children’s life chances, and the shoebox appeal brings huge joy to children who would otherwise not receive a gift.
