Sewing!

The classrooms have been filled with students sewing their Egyptian collars, in preparation for Egyptian day!

A note from the Principal

A note from the Principal

This week, we met with our Y4 – Y6 parents to explain all about our upcoming Residentials. You will note that our Residentials have undergone a calendar change from February to November, so that we can enjoy better air quality. This means that ‘Resi excitement’ has begun even earlier and I have loved catching up with the students on what they are most looking forward to!

We look forward to seeing you at the Solo Festival on Saturday and the Fun Run on Sunday!

Wellbeing

Parents may have seen these new posters around the Primary school.

We recently shared the attitudes and behaviours that we want to help every student to learn and develop as they move through our school.

These attitudes and behaviours are grouped under our three key values: Safe, Curious and Kind.

We want these positive words, thoughts and actions to support and strengthen your child’s holistic development as they move through Primary and into young adulthood. Please help us champion these three key values by referencing our matrix of positive behaviours and attitudes in conversations with your child. The matrix is also available in Thai.

Primary Parent Teacher Meetings

Next week, parents have the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher. The booking system is now closed; however, if you would still like to arrange an appointment, please contact your child’s class teacher via email.

Meetings are 15 minutes in length. Please ensure you arrive on time to your meeting so that other meetings are not impacted across the school.

If you can no longer attend your meeting, please do let your class teacher know as they may be able to arrange an alternative meeting time.

ECA’s and school transport will run as normal next week. Please contact transport@patana.ac.th to make any changes to your child’s travel arrangements.

A reminder that these are parent teacher meetings and there is limited supervision at school for your children during these times. So please make adult supervision arrangements for any children not attending ECAs that will remain on the school grounds.

Egyptian Day

We are very excited in Y3 to be introducing a new learning theme of the Egyptians, which will be starting next week. On Wednesday 16th October we will have an Egyptian Day at school. You do not need to prepare anything for this day as we will be creating our costumes in our Art lessons leading up to Egyptian day.

Tiger Spirit Day

Nut Free Primary School

For some children, any exposure to nuts is potentially very dangerous and can be life threatening.

We do not allow any nuts to be brought into Primary. This includes snacks on school transport, birthday treats and food items brought in for any other special days.

Some treats, such as macarons contain hidden nuts. Please check the ingredients before sending into school. If snacks or birthday treats are found to contain nuts, we will contact you and either dispose of the food safely or ask you to collect and take back home.

Tech Tips

#284: Hide Apps in iOS 18

The latest iOS 18 release allows apps like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat to be hidden in a secret folder—making them invisible on the Home Screen and even from the search bar. As parents and caregivers, it’s more important than ever to keep up with these updates so we can guide our children safely through the digital world.

If you want a step-by-step guide on how to find hidden apps and more, watch Wayne Denner explain it for you by clicking on the image.

Key Takeaways:

  • Set up and use parental controls where possible—Apple’s ‘Ask to Buy’ feature is a great start.

  • Hidden apps can still be tracked via Screen Time, battery health, and App Store purchases—keep an eye on these!

  • Open, ongoing conversations about digital safety are key. Explore tech together and set boundaries.

Hope to see you at the Fun Run!
