A note
from the Principal
It has been another rewarding week in Primary, as we have celebrated all of our
students talents with the Swim Galas and the Y3 and Y4 Readers Theatre. I had
my first opportunity to MC at the Y2 Swim Gala and it was such fun!
You may have seen that we are getting ready to host Matt Dickinson, award
winning author, film maker and mountaineer. On Monday 29th May at
1pm, we are being treated to a school assembly (Y3 to Y12) to celebrate the 70th
Anniversary of the first recorded climb of Mt. Everest and on Friday, 2 June we
will be inviting students to dress up as heroes!
Tomorrow and all weekend, I will be at the 21 Century Learning Conference at
Verso school. The schedule looks super and I will be focusing on sessions
around creativity, student agency and innovation!

Wellbeing
What a difference a week makes!
The Year 3 Smile Squad have been out and about - lots of happy Good Mornings and Good byes between the students and teachers! This is a great start
The next challenge is to actively encouraging the students to become true members of the 'Smile Squad' by saying hello and/or goodbye to people we see around, including other people not in our year group such as our security guards, cleaners and gardeners.
Learning
This term, we will be learning about the theme ''Might Metals". If you would like to find out more about this please follow this link
RSE (relationship and sex) presentations
Next weeks lesson is all about touches. Good and bad touches, appropriate and inappropriate touches. Thsi revoled around the theme of keeping ourselves safe, using Pantasurus!
PE Blocks
Continuing next week:
Save the Date...
There will be a whole school Dress-up Day on the 2nd
June, with the theme of “Heroes”.
Global Citizenship
Recycling
Please can you send in any card boxes, cereal packets or items that could be used for junk modelling.
Busking Day
This is a charity event where all the students in Year 3 to 6 perform an act on repeat for about 40 minutes in a bid to raise money. During this time, the other students, parents and teachers walk around and drop coins at their favourite acts. The children were introduced to this during assembly this week.
Reading Book Amnesty!
We are missing a HUGE number of our levelled reading books from Year 3. Please would you mind having a really good look at home for any books that may belong to Year 3 (they should have a label on them saying 'Year 3 Curriculum') as we are missing over 100 books, making it extremely difficult for the children to change their book.
Events around the world
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.
Please ensure any snack or Birthday cakes/doughnuts that come into school are nut free. This is to ensure we are keeping all our students safe as we have some students in the Y3/4 Building who have severe nut allergies. Thank you for your help with this.
