A note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
I hope this update finds you and your families well. This
week has marked three special events. We celebrated Labour Day, Coronation Day
to honour King Maha Vajiralongkorn and, today, King Charles III’s Coronation Day.
Despite the shorter school week, we have been busy and
productive. On Monday, we held our twice annual CPL day, which provided an
opportunity for our teachers to engage in professional learning across a range
of disciplines. We were extremely fortunate to have Tom Sherrington as our
keynote speaker, who continues supporting us with evidenced based classroom
practices. I was pleased to see so many parents in attendance at Tom's workshop
on Tuesday, which was an excellent opportunity to gain further insight into our
ethos and pedagogy.
With the especially warm temperatures set to continue,
please be assured we are actively monitoring the Heat Index and our Heat
Management Guidelines at all times. We want to ensure that our students and
staff are safe and comfortable during hot weather, and we take all necessary
measures to prevent heat-related illnesses. Please feel free to contact us if
you have any questions.

Wellbeing
This week the children were introduced the Year 3 Smile Squad'. We've noticed a large number of children aren't terribly good at acknowledging other adults or students, so we are actively encouraging them to become part of the 'Smile Squad' whereby we say hello and/or goodbye to people we see around, including other people not in our year group such as our security guards, cleaners and gardeners.
Snacks
If your child is bringing in a snack for playtime please can ensure it is a healthy snack and of a proportionate size. We have some students who eat so many snacks they have no room left at lunchtime! Many thanks!
Learning
This term, we will be learning about the theme ''Might Metals". If you would like to find out more about this please follow this link
RSE (relationship and sex) presentations
RSE lessons continue next week. During this lesson we will be talking about how the baby grows inside a female and talking about the changes that occur in a family when a new baby comes home.
Swimming Gala - save the date!
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons continue as follows:
3M, 3C, 3A and 3T will be swimming on a TUESDAY.
3K, 3P, 3D and 3J will be swimming on a THURSDAY.
For swimming, they need a black school swim suit , rash vest (optional), towel, goggles and a swim hat (for all hair longer than shoulder length).
Due to the heat at the moment please do not send your child into school with their swimmers under their uniform.
Changes to PE changing!
From now on, if your child has PE they can come into school wearing their PE kit. They will also need their uniform and school shoes packed in a named bag to change into after PE.
On swimming days they will need to come into school in uniform, with their swimming kits in their bags.

Recycling
Please can you send in any card boxes, cereal packets or items that could be used for junk modelling.
Busking Day
This is a charity event where all the students in Year 3 to 6 perform an act on repeat for about 40 minutes in a bid to raise money. During this time, the other students, parents and teachers walk around and drop coins at their favourite acts. The children were introduced to this during assembly this week.
Reading Book Amnesty!
We are missing a HUGE number of our levelled reading books from Year 3. Please would you mind having a really good look at home for any books that may belong to Year 3 (they should have a label on them saying 'Year 3 Curriculum') as we are missing over 100 books, making it extremely difficult for the children to change their book.
Events around the world
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.
Please ensure any snack or Birthday cakes/doughnuts that come into school are nut free. This is to ensure we are keeping all our students safe as we have some students in the Y3/4 Building who have severe nut allergies. Thank you for your help with this.
