A note from the Principal

Wellbeing

Lunar New Year Assembly

The Lunar New Year Celebration assembly will be on Friday 9^th February in the sports hall at 10.10am. 

The children are invited to wear Lunar New Year clothes or the colours red and gold on thsi day. 

However, if they prefer not to wear traditional costume,then they can wear school uniform as usual.

Air Pollution

At this time of year we notice a change in the Air Quality in Bangkok.

In the morning before school starts when we have the Status:

Unhealthy

From 7am onwards, Year 3 students should come inside and go to their classroom where there will be teachers supervising them safely inside.

Parents are encouraged to drop their children at the doors .

We please kindly ask parents not to come into this space as it may become crowded and full.

Should your child arrive before 7am on any day they should go directly to the Primary Office until duty staff begin to supervise.

ECA Information

A reminder that Block C is scheduled to begin on Monday 12^th February (3-week break including Residentials for Y4-6), in-between blocks the only ECAs that will run during this time are listed below;

- Home Language - Dutch Group Key Stage 2 (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)

- Tigersharks Swim Academy Year 3 and above

- Gymnastics Academy Team training (Key Stage 2)

- Tennis Academy – Key Stage 2

- Football Academy – Starting on Monday 5^th Feb, Key Stage 2 Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

- Golf Team Training, Key Stage 2 Wednesday (until 2^nd Feb)

- Tigers Dance Academy, Key Stage 2 will start on 5^th Feb (No ECAs during Residential weeks). Key Stage 1 Dance ECAs will continue throughout the break.

Times Tables-athon

When?

Friday, 8^th March.

Why?

The Times Tables-athon is a sponsored times tables speed-test. The purpose of this event is to raise money for our charity, Thomas House, and to encourage the children to learn their times tables by heart. Quick recall of times tables helps free up space in children's working memory so that they can focus on applying their knowledge to other areas of the curriculum. For example, students use their times-tables knowledge when learning fractions, and area and perimeter.

Which Times Tables?

The children will choose three times tables to learn, choosing one set from the following group:

- 2, 5 and 10 times tables

- 3, 4 and 8 times tables

- 6, 7 and 9 times tables

- a mix of all times tables including division facts

Sponsorship

Each child has been given a sponsorship form to take home. They are encouraged to collect as much money as they can and to bring it in after the Times Tables-athon.

Residential

The children are very excited about the residential - even though it is still a while away. If you missed the information meeting you can use this video to find out more information.
