Please don't forget to switch off your alarms and enjoy next week's half term break.

Spell-a-thon

Year 2 are excited to announce that our community fundraising event for Term 2 will be a Spell-a-thon. Please keep safe your child's spelling list that was sent home yesterday. Encourage your child to learn their list of words as best they can, making the spelling fun will also help to motivate and interest your child. Try these fun ideas; playing hangman, using magnetic or scrabble letters, create your own wordsearch, make a crossword puzzle, quiz your child and reward them for correct answers.

Students will have the week of the half-term holidays to learn their words and the Spell-a-thon event will then be held the first week back on Friday 4th March. Your child will be asking yourself and other family members to sponsor them which will help to raise money for our year group charity: Children of the Forest. Your support, as always, is much appreciated. Many thanks, from the Year 2 Team.

Reminders

Please can we remind parents about the school policy with regards to hair and hats - these are part of keeping our students as safe as possible. Thank you.

We encourage children to wear a watch to school, to help them keep track on time and develop independence. Many smart watches allow for phone and message contact, internet access, online games, and other features that they do not need in school. Access to games via a smart watch distracts children from other social play activities and planned learning. If your child does have a smart watch, please talk with your child about which functions can and cannot be used in school. Some watches will allow you to limit the functions available to your child.

Global citizenship

Did you know that you can send used batteries into school to be properly disposed of? Each classroom has a collection point which is then taken to a central location to be disposed of.

You may not be aware that you can send in any ring pull tops for collection at school. These are used to make prosthetic limbs. The collection point is in the Primary Office but you can send them in with your child. The Y2 team will take them over to the main collection point.

Birthday celebrations

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts or cupcakes. Please remember we are a nut free Primary School. Your child's class teacher will try to get a photo to share with you.

Please can we remind you,  to not bring in gifts for the class, either for birthdays, or on other special celebration days.

Here are our birthdays for next week. Have a super day!
