A note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
It has been a superb week here in Patana Primary with a range of exciting events and activities! First up, some staff and parent sessions with consultant Kim Scott on the benefits of play and playful learning. Then we were quickly into our Sporting events, including our Sports Days and Swim Galas. On Thursday, it was the Y5 Readers Cup and then we finished the week with Friendship Friday.
A huge thank you to all the students who took part in our recent Flip Grid competition on ‘what makes us special’. We received a whopping 405 entries and special commendation is due to the Year 6 students, who impressed us with a remarkable 122 video entries. Following closely behind, the Year 2 students submitted an impressive 118 videos. To celebrate their enthusiastic participation, both year groups have received the highly anticipated prize of an extra playtime in a campus location of their choice. Here’s a small sample of the responses!
Hope to see some of you at the PTG Big Night Out on Saturday!

Swim Gala
Thank you to all of the parents who came along to support the Year 5 Swim Gala. We are very proud of the Year 5 students who demonstrated high levels of resilience. They were very supportive of their peers throughout the event.
A polite reminder to parents. As per our school policy and Parent Code of Conduct, please think twice about sharing images online or via any social media platform.
Spotlight International Day Events
Thank to you all of the Patana parents who have supported the spotlight events this week. See below for events that are happening next week.
Friendship Friday - Thank you for your support
We had a wonderful assembly today by Tracy from the local charity: Home of Grace. Students learnt about the positive impact that supporting charities can have on people. Later on in the year, we will have an event to raise money for Home of Grace.
Writing opportunity - still time to take part!
Learning
3 Way Conferences reminder
If you missed the booking window, please contact your child's class teacher to book an appointment. We would really like to see you all to celebrate the learning. If you can't make the date, your child's class teacher can arrange a mutually convenient time.
PE lessons
Athletics:
Please make sure that your child comes to school in their PE when they have athletics and that they bring a uniform and school shoes to get changed into afterwards.
They will need the following for athletics: hat, PE kit and a water bottle.
All students should wear sunscreen as it is extremely hot.
Swimming:
Swimming requires black swimsuit/swim shorts, swim cap (for hair longer than shoulder length) goggles and towel. Black rash vest is optional and sunscreen is recommended.
On swimming days, students should come to school in their uniform.
Class Blogs and home learning
Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.
Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.
Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.
Global Citizenship
Events In The World
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

- Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
- Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
