Happy Lunar New Year!
A note from the Principal
There are some weeks in the Primary school that simply dazzle,
and this has been one of them! In our Creative Arts building, the students have
been showcasing their talents in Performance Week and on Friday, we all
thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the Lunar New Year and welcoming in the Year of
The Snake.
The area of learning that I have been most impressed by is Science. Over recent
years, we have been transforming how children see the world through atoms. In
partnership with the Surfing Scientist Ruben Meerman, our newly devised science
curriculum builds from Year 1, where students become "atomic
architects," to Year 6, where they uncover the dance of protons, neutrons,
and electrons. Along the way, they explore the big concepts of photosynthesis,
nutrition, and the universe at an atomic level—ensuring they don’t just learn
science but truly live it.
Amazing job Patana Primary!

Start of day timings
For families who arrive by car, getting departure and arrival times right can be difficult.
You don’t want to arrive to early, but you also don’t want to be stuck in the LaSalle traffic.
The occasional late arrival is well understood - and sometimes unavoidable.
However, the class teacher will be in contact if there is a persistent pattern of lateness.
Primary school timings – start of day
- Staff on duty from 7 a.m.
- Students enter classrooms at 7:30.
- Timetabled learning begins at 7:40.
If a child arrives rushed, and perhaps stressed about missing a lesson, this is not the best start to their day.
Those first ten minutes, from 7:30 – 7:40, are an important part of the school day.
Established start-of-day routines give children time to settle and switch into learner mode.
We want all of our children to know about the importance of punctuality, and not only in their school setting.
Air Pollution
At this time of year we notice a change in the Air Quality in Bangkok.
In the morning before school starts when we have the Status:
Unhealthy
From 7am onwards, Year 3 students should come inside and go to their classroom where there will be teachers supervising them safely inside.
Parents are encouraged to drop their children at the doors .
We please kindly ask parents not to come into this space as it may become crowded and full.
Should your child arrive before 7am on any day they should go directly to the Primary Office until duty staff begin to supervise.
Please find the school policy for Air Quality Here
