A note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
This week, we honoured the International Day of Peace. In
our assemblies and classes, we considered how we can all contribute to peace
and the importance of our collective and individual efforts. This very
important day is one of my favourites on the school calendar, as it brings our
values of global citizenship and wellbeing to the forefront of our teaching and
learning.
Do you check the Patana News weekly? I really encourage you to do so. In this
week’s edition, I have prepared an article on the developments in assessment
and reporting, plus the parent survey results from the end of last academic
year. I hope you find both pieces informative.

Smile Squad
Last week in our assembly, we introduced the Smile Squad. First, we
watched two videos
and discussed how the way we act might make other people feel. We decided that
we wanted to be more like the teachers and students in the second video. The
teachers and students in the second video belong in the Smile Squad!
In the Smile Squad, we:
- say hello
- use each other’s names
- say goodbye
- say please & thank you
- ask ‘How are you?’
Each week, we will choose Smile Stars of the Week who will receive a special
Smile Squad praise
postcard. We will also add their picture to the Smile Squad Hall of Fame.
What do your children do all day at school?
Many parents have mentioned their children do not share much about their day at school. Why not look at your class blog together, this may help you find out a little more about what they are doing at school. You can find the blogs here. The blogs are updated weekly.
Bus Journeys
The bus journey to and from school should be a happy experience for our students. It is a good idea to pack something in their bags to keep them entertained, especially on long journeys. If for any reason your child has a problem on the bus, please contact your child's class teacher.
Preventing the spread of colds and flu
Please help us to prevent outbreaks of cold or flu as we head into the rainy season.
Children with cold or flu (influenza) symptoms should be kept at home until they are completely recovered.
Even when the main symptoms have gone, your child may still need time to return to full strength.
Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer in the contagious phase.
If your child is still coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with other children.
A child who has a fever should be kept at home until ‘fever free’ for a minimum of 24 hours.
Influenza is a serious and contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system.
The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air, allowing infection to spread quickly.
When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma.
If Influenza is confirmed, please send a copy of the medical certificate to Nurse@patana.ac.th
Nut Free Primary School
We do not allow any nuts to be brought into Primary. This includes snacks on school transport, birthday treats and food items brought in for any other special days.
Some treats, such as macarons contain hidden nuts. Please check the ingredients before sending into school. If snacks or birthday treats are found to contain nuts, we will contact you and either dispose of the food safely or ask you to collect and take back home.
