We are collaborative and confident

Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and support the Interclass football this week. It was great to see the children playing together and enjoying the support from the sidelines!

A note from the Principal

Dear Parents,

A highlight for me this week was our Creative Arts parent workshop on Tuesday. Rather than a presentation in the Primary Hall, we welcomed our parents to experience what it is like to take part in a Patana Music, Art and a Drama lesson! A great time was had by all and we think our parents learnt some valuable new skills too!

Next week, we look forward to our Y1 – Y6 Parent-Teacher meetings. This is the first formal meeting of the year where we will discuss how your child is settling into their new class, give a starting indication of their learning aptitude and attitudes and address any questions you may have. We have shared lots of important information in the recent weeks on the new developments in assessment and reporting, so please do take time to digest.

Have a great weekend, let’s hope this rain stops soon!

Smile Squad

Last week in our assembly, we introduced the Smile Squad. First, we watched two videos and discussed how the way we act might make other people feel. We decided that we wanted to be more like the teachers and students in the second video. The teachers and students in the second video belong in the Smile Squad!

In the Smile Squad, we:

-   say hello

-   use each other’s names

-   say goodbye

-   say please & thank you

-   ask ‘How are you?’

Each week, we will choose Smile Stars of the Week who will receive a special Smile Squad praise postcard. We will also add their picture to the Smile Squad Hall of Fame.

Bus Journeys

The bus journey to and from school should be a happy experience for our students. It is a good idea to pack something in their bags to keep them entertained, especially on long journeys. If for any reason your child has a problem on the bus, please contact your child's class teacher.

Preventing the spread of colds and flu

Please help us to prevent outbreaks of cold or flu as we head into the rainy season.

Children with cold or flu (influenza) symptoms should be kept at home until they are completely recovered.

Even when the main symptoms have gone, your child may still need time to return to full strength.

Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer in the contagious phase.

If your child is still coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with other children.

A child who has a fever should be kept at home until ‘fever free’ for a minimum of 24 hours.

Influenza is a serious and contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system.

The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air, allowing infection to spread quickly.

When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma.

If Influenza is confirmed, please send a copy of the medical certificate to Nurse@patana.ac.th
