Y3 Newsletter 15.11.24

Y3 students have been enjoying finding out about where Mythical creatures come from and then finding those countries on a map.

A note from the Principal

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we hosted two extremely informative Parent partnership workshops. The first, hosted by Mr. Dave Walton, was designed for our new families and covered the topics of Assessment and Reporting in the Primary school. The second was hosted by Secondary Principal Mr. Matt Seddon and looked at Language Pathways through to IB and some developments in the Secondary language program.

Upon popular request, all of our Primary workshops are now recorded and you can find them on your Parent Dashboard – under Parent Workshops and Presentations:

I encourage you to take a look if you have a chance to!

Wellbeing

Cold and Flu Guidance

Influenza is a contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system. Even fit and healthy children can easily catch a strain of influenza, and this should always be considered serious.

The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The virus can survive on hands and surfaces allowing infection to spread quickly.

When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma.

If Influenza is confirmed, the parent needs to send in a copy of the medical certificate.

Students with Influenza should be kept home until they are completely recovered and no longer contagious. Once the main symptoms have gone, children may still need time at home to recuperate.

Prevention in school and at home

Teach the importance of hand washing to reduce the spread of infection.

Regularly ask parents to teach the same preventative messages at home.

  • Everyone needs to wash and dry their hands regularly and thoroughly.

  • Regularly clean surfaces in bathrooms and the kitchen

  • Remind children to ‘sneeze in their sleeve’ or use a tissue to limit the spread of air-born droplets. They should then wash and dry their hands or use hand sanitizer.

ECAs

Please note that Block B ECAs start on Monday. It is really helpful if you can go through which ECA your child has each day, especially at the start of a new block.
