Living our school values:

We are motivated and engaged

3 February 2023

A note from the Principal

Dear parents,

This week’s note comes from Hua Hin, where I am on residential with the Year 4 students. We have had a wonderful 3 nights away, during which the students have enjoyed a number of memorable activities and experienced quite a number of ‘firsts’. Myself and the team have been so impressed with the students’ independence, sense of adventure, kindness towards friends and exceptional manners. Wishing all those students who are on residential next week a safe and happy trip!

Today, I would like to share some news that Ms. Abigail Kay, long standing Patana staff member and Year 3 teacher, is leaving our community. Abi has asked me to pass on the below message:

Dear Children, Parents and Staff at Bangkok Patana School,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be returning to school. This is not a decision I was happy to make but it is what I must do for now. My family and I have been and are so incredibly grateful for the well wishes, the donations and support that we’ve received from so many within the Patana community. We will never be able to repay your kindness, a kindness that only goes to prove how much of a special place Patana is. I have loved my time here and have been fortunate to have met some of the most amazing children in the world, the most caring parents and most passionate and dedicated staff. We are so sad to leave, especially without a proper goodbye but know that you will be in our hearts forever. Thank you, Abigail, Nick and Finley xx

We sincerely wish Ms. Abi and family the safest of onward journeys and we will be thinking of them.

Well-being

Air Quality

If the air quality is 'Caution for all' in the mornings, please say goodbye to your child at the Y1 doors and let them come inside to the middle area by themselves.  It gets very crowded and noisy when parents and carers come inside as well.  We have staff on duty and soft start activities set up for the students.  We appreciate your support with this.

If you would like to stay with your child until 7:30, you are welcome to take them to the Primary Library.

NO ECAs next week

Please be reminded that there are no ECAs next week.  It is the second week of the two week break between Block B and Block C EACs.  The following 'year long' ECAs will run:

  • - Home Language - Dutch Group Key Stage 2 (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
  • - Tigersharks Swim Academy Year 3 and above
  • - Gymnastics Academy Team training
  • - Tennis Academy – Key Stage 2 (Selective)
  • - Football Academy – Key Stage 2 Thursdays and Tuesdays (Select Groups)
  • - Golf Team Training, Key Stage 2 Wednesday (first week only).

Global Citizenship

Sponsored Spellathon in Year 1

On Friday 10th February, Year 1 will have a Sponsored Spellathon. This will help raise money for the children at Grapongdeang School in Khlong Toey.

We have sent home a list of spellings for your child to learn, which is appropriate to their phonic level. We have also attached a sponsorship form so that friends, family and neighbours can have the opportunity to support your child in this event.

The children should practice spelling their words at home ready for the big Spellathon, when we will see how many they know.

They will be writing the words when they take part in the spellathon.

If your child would like to take on the additional “Super Spell” challenge, then please also learn the additional “Super Spellers” words.

Many thanks for your support with this year group event.

General Information

Snacks - Nut Free School

We provided tasty and nutritious snacks each day for the students in class. As some of our children have allergies, please ensure any food sent to school does not contain any sort of nut.

Birthday celebrations

We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts or cupcakes. Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School.

These students are celebrating their birthdays this week:

1J Juliette [Etty] 04-February
1F Evelyn 05-February
1K Freddie 08-February

Have a wonderful day!
