Living our school values:

We are active stewards of the environment and our communities

10 February 2023

A note from the Principal

This week, our Key Stage 2 students continued with their residential trips. After a short hiatus, it has been fantastic to get our students out again and there was much excitement as we waved them off on the buses on Monday and Tuesday.

Experiences outside the classroom have a profound impact on students' growth and development, and they can provide opportunities for them to learn new skills, build relationships, and broaden their horizons. It’s been an action-packed week for sure and I suspect there will be lots of tired friends (and teachers) this weekend!

Across the school, it has been notably quiet with so many of our students away on camp. I have especially noticed this in the Primary canteen, where I have lunch daily. I love this part of my routine, as it’s an opportunity for me to informally chat with the children; to gently observe the comings and goings of our lunch time experience; and to enjoy the menu on offer. As a vegetarian, I am particularly pleased when it is vegetable lasagne day!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

ECAs next week

Please check that your child knows what their ECA is and what their home time arrangements are each day.

Learning

Our theme for this half term is 'Once Upon a Time'.  You can find out more about this on the Y1 Curriculum Page.

Global Citizenship

This was a very successful event today.  Your child should have their word list in their bag, showing how they did.  Please support them with collecting in their sponsorship money.  We would like to have this all collected and in by Friday 17th February.  You can give this to your child's class teacher.  Thank-you!

Waste Less Week

Next week is Waste Less Week.   The Student Environmental Committee (SEC) has decided to focus on sustainability.  There will be an 'R' word focus each day.  We will be helping the Y1s understand these words and what we can do to action them.

Our 'One Green Goal' in Year 1 is to waste less food.  This is something we are really starting to see with our students and, next week, it will be a particular focus at snack and lunch times.   We hope that these conversations can be had at dinner times too!

General Information

Snacks - Nut Free School

We provided tasty and nutritious snacks each day for the students in class. As some of our children have allergies, please ensure any food sent to school does not contain any sort of nut.

Birthday celebrations

We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts or cupcakes. Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School.

These students are celebrating their birthdays this week:

1K Viraj 11-February
1J Tanutt [Jonas] 11-February
1P Quinn 12-February
1G Ayden 16-February

Have a wonderful day!
