BPS Tennis Blog, Fixtures and Results
January has seen a hive of activity at the tennis courts with both JV and Varsity invitational singles events taking place plus a Varsity invitational team event and even a Sunday morning match with ISB.
These three weekends of events have seen 250 students from international schools competing and with all events run using the UTR platform it has seen many matches added to the system which in turn has seen many ratings improve.
These matches as ever also provide fantastic opportunities for students to develop tactically and compete at a level which is challenging and rewarding.
Last Saturday saw our first event of 2025 with the JV invitational singles events.
100 students from Bangkok International Schools came to play with the boys event kicking things in the morning.
With all players split into groups of 8 by their UTR ranking each draw was competitive as standards were similar.
Congratulations to Tyno who won the top section defeating teammate Hanson in the final whilst all other players won one of their two matches played which considering they were all the top section was a good effort.
The girls were then in action in the afternoon. BPS provided two section winners with Tatsha winning the top level and Alisa level 4 whilst Anya and Emily lost in the final of level 2 and 3 respectively so again some strong performances.
Overall 110 matches were played which for many of the visiting students was the first time they had competed at Patana since the covered courts had been built.
The Tennis Academy in conjunction with SILC hosted a Pink Tennis Charity event for the Queen Sirikit Center breast cancer foundation.
90 players took to the courts in a fun filled event with some fantastic outfits on show.
With both a competitive and a social section running side by side the courts were full of laughter all morning and was great to see such a vibrant community spirit.
Around 150,000 baht was raised on the day.
The U14 tennis season
The U14 tennis season concluded last Saturday with the end of season BMAC tournament, which although sanctioned under the BMAC conference umbrella is almost a hybrid tournament as three of the six schools taking part are from the BISA conference.
Patana hosted the girls whilst ISB were the boys host school.
