FOBISIA TENNIS IN JAKARTA

FOBISIA TENNIS - hosted by British School Jakarta.

Thirty-five Bangkok Patana students travelled to Jakarta to compete in the third annual FOBISIA championships. With an overall entry of 205 students from across the region competing in the three age groups - Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15, Bangkok Patana were well represented in all categories. School teams from Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Phuket, Brunei and Thailand were in attendance and competition was tough.

Final results were excellent with Bangkok Patana winning three of the six overall titles: Leo Vithoontien won Under 15 Boys’ title, Savannah Olds took the Under 13 Girls and Balloon Ruamrak took the Under 11 Girls’ title.

Moniqa Nielsen was runner up in the Girls’ Under 13, Mark Nielsen was runner up in the Under 11 Boys and Donald in the Under 15 Boys both finished third. With medals awarded to all top eight finishers, we had plenty of students up on stage – Tatiana and Pammy in the Girls’ Under 11, Amery in Boys’ Under 11, Adelia, Clara and Rachel in Girls’ Under 13, Stijn in Boys’ Under 13 and Denis in Boys’ Under 15.

In total Bangkok Patana students played 140 matches winning 82 but more importantly all students won a match and all contributed well to the team spirit and dynamic of the team.

Dan Ahl, Head Tennis Coach was justifiably proud of all the students who conducted themselves well both on and off court and enjoyed the time with them all. He would like to say a big thank you to Coach Jan, Coach Danai and Mr Balo for their support both before and during the event and to all the travelling supporters who kept the team entertained!
