The children in the Nursery share their learning and some of the
children have already begun to build friendships. For others they explore their own interests and find that there are other children in Nursery that
like to do the same things. then through support and encouragement the children
are able to develop new relationships through their play.
Through play there are lots of opportunities for us to share and take turns. The children are learning to use their peaceful problem solving skills. We model for the children that they can use their words or actions to communicate with their friends. If we are interested in something someone else is playing with we can say ‘Can I play with you?’. If we don't like something we can say ‘stop I don’t like it’.
Here are some pictures of us exploring and learning together this week;
Learning from home suggestion- Independence
1. Packing and carrying your school backpack
To support our children with being responsible for their own things we expect them to carry their own backpack on their back. Can you help to pack it too? You can choose what you will need in your backpack for school? You can practice closing and opening the zip too. Talk with your child about how they will recognise their own things.
2. Putting on shoes and socks.
Whilst we are always ready to help out now is a great time for your child to practice putting on their own shoes. Can you practice with different fastenings, it could be velcro , elastic or pulling up the backs of sandals.
Learning suggestion at home - Gross motor skills
Moving and handling is a very important aspect of Physical development with gross motor skills being a firm foundation for all our movements. Gross motor skills are those which require whole body movement and which involve the large, core stabilising muscles of the body to perform everyday functions, such as standing and walking, running and jumping, and sitting upright at the table. We can develop these muscles in lots of different ways.
We are looking for children who can:
- Run safely on their whole foot
- Squat and rise steadily to their feet without using their hands
- Jumps forwards with both feet in the air
- Walk, run and climb on different levels and surfaces
- Climb up and down stairs
- Choose different ways of moving such as dance moves or moving like an animal
- Uses wheeled toys with increasing skill, such as pedalling, balancing, holding handle bars and sitting astride
- Kick a stationary ball and throw and catch a large ball using two hands.
Have a lovely weekend
