Welcome to the Nursery learning page.
Today's song to wake you up is 'Shake your sillies out'
Learning Focus - Den building
In the Nursery recently we have been making dens and playing with the tent. Can you work with your child to build a den at home?
Your child might need some help with ideas of how to design or construct their den, but you can encourage them to have their own ideas. This is a great opportunity for your child to communicate their thoughts and ideas with you. Getting involved in the building will promote gross motor skill development through moving, lifting and carrying things. It will provide opportunities for trial and error and enable your child to develop perseverance and problem solving skills.
What will your den look like? Let your child choose what to do in their den. Will they read their favourite book? Or have a tea party with their toys?
Promoting independence- Tidy as you go
Tidy as you go is our motto in the Nursery, in a very busy environment it is important that the children know it is their job to tidy up something when they have finished with it so that it is ready for the next friend to play with.
We always model for them what tidying up looks like and we sometimes make it into a game; ‘ I wonder if you can put this one where it goes quicker than me?’ ‘Let’s see how quickly we can do this, ready, steady go!’. When we praise the children for doing something well they will want to do it again next time, it is how they learn.
Active learning - Mindful Movement
Today we are thinking about mindful movement
Storytime
Today's story time is 'I could be, you could be' read by Ms Carol;
Here are our Nursery bookshelves if you would like to find a different story to listen to.
Please do share your child 's learning from home. It might be linked to the ideas on the blog or it could be something else completely different. Your Seesaw posts from home shows us skills your child has which we may not have seen at school and helps us to build up a wider picture of their learning and development.
