Learning Advice for Parents
A key characteristic of an effective learner is their curiosity to explore and find things out.
Children need to use their senses, engaging in open ended activity and showing their interests.
Learning Focus
Ms Jane is reading ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ today. We wonder if you can go on a hunt for animals in your house? We wonder how many toys you have that are animals?
What different sorts of animals can you find?
You could sort your animals according to colour just like in today's story.
Promoting Independence
As ‘Global Citizens’ we are great at looking after our environment in many ways. When we are in school a huge part of learning is to tidy as you go…
You will notice that we label and offer prompts to find the right place. We look after our things carefully, so that we can play and learn with them another time.
When you have finished learning about your animal toys, can you remember where you found them and make sure that you put them back where they belong?
Active Learning
Let’s do some dancing! When we hear music that excites us and that we enjoy, our bodies naturally begin to move. Young children will jump up and down and wave their arms. Your child will have favourite songs for dancing! Please share them with us.
This is a musical version of Brown Bear and it has a quick tempo with a catchy tune:
You might like to model some simple dance moves like twist, bend, side step or knee lift.
What other dance moves do you know?
Story Time
Brown Bear, Brown Bear read by Ms Jane
Children often enjoy listening to stories several times. They may like to join in with the repeated refrains, or look at the pictures. Our digital bookshelf below gives you access to the five stories that we read last week. Simply click on the picture of your chosen story and it will redirect you to the video of one of our teachers or TAs reading it. Page 1 is the stories read in English. If your child would like to listen to the story in Thai, head to page 2!
Keeping Safe Online
Learning at home is a little different from learning in school. Watch to see how Max and Millie keep themselves safe whilst learning online.
We Love to See Your Learning!
We really love to see videos and photos of what you have been doing at home. The best way to share this with us is via the Seesaw App. You should have received communication about how to download and login to the app. If you have not received this, please email the ISIT helpdesk- helpdesk@patana.ac.th
Resource Packs
If you have picked up your child's resource pack, they may already be very excited to explore what's inside. Whilst there may be times that we encourage the use of certain resources, we would love for your child to have access to these, whenever they wish. Below are some ideas about how you can enhance this learning.
Home-School Communication
We hope that you enjoy engaging with our Nursery Blog.
If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email. They can then arrange a mutually convenient time to meet via MS Teams. Our class teachers always welcome the opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and progress.
