Learning Advice for Parents

Reading Stories

Reading and sharing stories can:

  • help your child get to know sounds, words and language, and develop early literacy skills.
  • learn to value books and stories.
  • spark your child's imagination and stimulate curiosity.
  • help develop your child's brain, ability to focus, concentration, social skills and communication skills.

So it is not surprising that they like to hear the same stories again and again!

Learning Focus

Today's story is Whatever Next read by Ms Carol:

Can you play or act out the story at home?  Do you have any props at home to help you?

Perhaps you can have a picnic on the moon too. I wonder what food you will have.

Promoting Independence

After you have eaten your snack or lunch today can you help to tidy up and wash up too? When we are at nursery we wash our cups and bowls after snack.

Active Learning

A Perfect Day by Lane Smith

Guidance

Start by enjoying the story below with your child and Ms Grace.

You can talk to your child about what they would do on their perfect day.

  • I wonder what your perfect day would look like?
  • I wonder what you would eat?
  • I wonder what you would see?
  • I wonder what you would smell?
  • I wonder what you would touch?
  • I wonder what you would hear?

Story Time

Children often enjoy listening to stories several times.  They may like to join in with the repeated refrains, or look at the pictures.  Our digital bookshelf below gives you access to the five stories that we read last week.  Simply click on the picture of your chosen story and it will redirect you to the video of one of our teachers or TAs reading it.  Page 1 is the stories read in English.  If your child would like to listen to the story in Thai, head to page 2!

We Love to See Your Learning!

We really love to see videos and photos of what you have been doing at home. The best way to share this with us is via the Seesaw App. You should have received communication about how to download and login to the app. If you have not received this, please email the ISIT helpdesk- helpdesk@patana.ac.th

Resource Packs

If you have picked up your child's resource pack, they may already be very excited to explore what's inside.  Whilst there may be times that we encourage the use of certain resources, we would love for your child to have access to these, whenever they wish.  Below are some ideas about how you can enhance this learning.

Home-School Communication

We hope that you enjoy engaging with our Nursery Blog.

If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email. They can then arrange a mutually convenient time to meet via MS Teams. Our class teachers always welcome the opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and progress.
