Meet Ms Gemma and Ms Grace!
We are so lucky to have have so many wonderful teachers and specialists supporting our learning in Nursery. This week, we would like to introduce you to two special people. Ms Gemma, who supports our Physical Development Learning and Ms Grace who supports our Sensory Learning and Wellbeing.
Learning Advice for Parents
Children learn through playing and exploring, encourage them and show your own interest in discovering new things.
Learning Focus
Making a Telescope
Today Ms Carol is reading ‘Shark in the Park’. In the story, Timothy has a telescope and uses it to explore in the park.
We wonder if you can make a telescope from things you have in your house? Here are some of the things you may like to use;
Now you are ready to explore! You might explore inside your house or outside in your garden. I wonder what you will see.
Here are some things Ms Jane saw through her telescope, can you see what they are?
Encourage your child to talk about what they see when they explore.
Promoting Independence
When we get back to school your child will put on and take off their shoes many times in the school day. Whether it is to play in the sandpit, sensory stream or soft play. We will always be there to help them but now is a great time for you to practice with your child and teach them to do it by themselves.
Active Learning
Fine Motor Skill Fun with Playdough
Let’s make some playdough. Allowing children to make and play with playdough is fantastic for their fine motor skill development. Squeezing, prodding, rolling etc allows the children to develop stronger muscles in their fingers and hands!
Important Note- This recipe uses boiling water, so your child will need to watch rather than help with adding the water until it is cool enough to handle.
After your child has made their playdough, follow the video for some playdough gym fun:
Story Time
Shark in the Park
Children often enjoy listening to stories several times. They may like to join in with the repeated refrains, or look at the pictures. Our digital bookshelf below gives you access to the five stories that we read last week. Simply click on the picture of your chosen story and it will redirect you to the video of one of our teachers or TAs reading it. Page 1 is the stories read in English. If your child would like to listen to the story in Thai, head to page 2!
We Love to See Your Learning!
We really love to see videos and photos of what you have been doing at home. The best way to share this with us is via the Seesaw App. You should have received communication about how to download and login to the app. If you have not received this, please email the ISIT helpdesk- helpdesk@patana.ac.th
Resource Packs
If you have picked up your child's resource pack, they may already be very excited to explore what's inside. Whilst there may be times that we encourage the use of certain resources, we would love for your child to have access to these, whenever they wish. Below are some ideas about how you can enhance this learning.
Home-School Communication
We hope that you enjoy engaging with our Nursery Blog.
If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email. They can then arrange a mutually convenient time to meet via MS Teams. Our class teachers always welcome the opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and progress.
