Nursery Continuing Student Learning Tuesday 24th August

Our Best Bits from Day One

We really enjoyed meeting you all yesterday and would like to share some of our favourite parts of the day.  We wonder what you enjoyed most?

Say hello to our wonderful Teaching Assistants

Yesterday, you met lots of new people during your Small Group Learning Calls.

In Nursery, we have some fantastic Teaching Assistants who support our learning.  You will see some of them on your calls during CSL.  Each day this week, we will introduce them to you.

Today, we meet Miss Naam and Miss Kat

Learning Advice for Parents

Children learn best when they are happy and motivated, so make it fun!

Learning Focus

We love to play a game of hide and seek.

Remember, we need to take turns. “My turn, your turn”.

One person will need to be the seeker and anyone else playing needs to hide. If you are the seeker you need to give the hiders some time to find a good place.

Good places are out of sight like in a corner, under the table, or behind the curtains. We never hide in cupboards or behind closed doors

I wonder how long you want to give them? Can you count to 5 very slowly? Is this long enough?

When you finish counting you need to let all the hiders know that you are coming. Ms Carol likes to call out as she counts and then say loudly ‘I am coming, ready or not!” Then the seeking fun begins until everyone is found.

Make sure that everyone takes a turn of hiding and seeking!

Promoting Independence

Water is delicious. We need to drink lots of water everyday to keep ourselves healthy.

What does your favourite cup look like? Does it have a handle and an open top? We always encourage our children to learn new skills. We wonder how you pour your own water?

Pouring your own water develops:

  • eye-hand coordination
  • fine motor control
  • concentration
  • independence
  • strength in the dominant hand

Initially, you can try pouring from a jug with something dry, like your coloured rice. Then when there are no spills you can try with a small amount of water. We would tip the jug very slowly and gently and say ‘count 1 and stop’. You can always pour more when your cup is empty!

Active Learning

Get active this afternoon by having a go at ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’. Can you try going really slowly? Now make it as fast as you can! If you know the song already you can sing by yourself or you can copy the video:

Story Time

Today’s story is 'Where’s Spot?' He is hiding really well!

Resource Packs

If you have picked up your child's resource pack, they may already be very excited to explore what's inside.  Whilst there may be times that we encourage the use of certain resources, we would love for your child to have access to these, whenever they wish.  Below are some ideas about how you can enhance this learning.

Home-School Communication

We hope that you enjoy engaging with our Nursery Blog.

If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email. They can then arrange a mutually convenient time to meet via MS Teams. Our class teachers always welcome the opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and progress.
