Learning Advice for Parents

Learning Focus

Every day we will have a ‘learning focus’. Today’s focus is linked to the coloured rice in your learning resource pack.

What’s in the bag?

During our Small Group Learning today, we might sing ‘What’s in the bag?'

We wonder if you found some coloured rice in your learning resource bag?

Coloured rice is a fabulous sensory material, especially for those children who are not keen to get their fingers messy. It is very versatile so here are a few ideas that you could try.

Pour the rice onto a flat container and use it to make marks. Observe how your fingers can draw shapes and lines. Your child might enjoy filling and emptying containers of different shapes and sizes. You might like to add some imaginary play such as making a cup of tea or doing some cooking?

Promoting Independence

In school we have automatic taps. These are amazing as they conserve water enabling us to wash our hands thoroughly without using too much water. At home, you may have a tap that you need to turn on and off. This is good exercise for strengthening little fingers and learning new words ‘Turn on’ turn off’. Remember to use soap and check that your fingers, thumbs, palms and the back of your hands are ‘all clean’.

Active Learning

Hit the Balloon

Using a balloon, hit the balloon up as high as you can and follow it wherever it goes. Don't let that balloon touch the ground. For an extra challenge, after hitting the balloon up in the air do one star jump, then hit the balloon again. Have fun.

Story Time

Stories are a fantastic tool to develop communication skills. We notice that our youngest children enjoy the familiarity of books and revisiting their favourites time and time again. Each day we will be sharing some of our favourites.  Today, enjoy Ms Jane reading ‘Colours’.

Resource Packs

If you have picked up your child's resource pack, they may already be very excited to explore what's inside.  Whilst there may be times that we encourage the use of certain resources, we would love for your child to have access to these, whenever they wish.  Below are some ideas about how you can enhance this learning.

If you are in Thailand but outside of Bangkok, the PTG has arranged for Kerry Express to deliver a resource pack to you. Please complete this link by Monday: https://forms.gle/2rTRX82WwKsm85ZK8

Home-School Communication

We hope that you enjoy engaging with our Nursery Blog.

If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email. They can then arrange a mutually convenient time to meet via MS Teams. Our class teachers always welcome the opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and progress.
