Learning Advice for Parents
Personal, Social and Emotional Development- Making Relationships
Your child’s first relationships are with you and their family members and helpers at home.
Through these relationships, children learn how to think, understand, communicate, behave, express emotions and develop social skills.
Playing with your child strengthens your relationship and encourages your child to explore, observe, experiment and solve problems.
Learning Focus
Shape Viewer
You might have a shape sorter or shape puzzle at home like these;
Can you talk with your grown up about the shapes you know?
Today we are going to make our own shape viewer to help us explore shapes in our environment, yours could be a circle, a square, a triangle or a different shape completely, you can choose. Here are some ideas of what they could look like;
Then you are ready to explore. What can you see through your viewer? Can you find something the same shape as your viewer?
Promoting Independence
Walking Up and Down Stairs
Teaching children to climb stairs is a great way to keep them safe. It is important to teach your child how to correctly go up and down the stairs, especially when they encounter stairs in different environments. Lots of us don’t have stairs in our homes so it is even more important to let your child practice when there is the opportunity, it may take a little longer but it is a great skill to practice.
As a guide, children of nursery age begin walking up the stairs using alternate feet on the steps holding the handrail and walk down the stairs putting two feet per step.

We Love to See Your Learning!
What could you share on Seesaw today?
We would love to see some videos of your child exploring their shapes today. Remember, we love hearing your child speak in their home language too! So, if they feel more comfortable speaking in another language, please do share this with us. If Thai is your home language, our TAs can support us with translation. If your home language is different, please do give us a few sentences about what is being said.
You are not limited to the ideas on the blog. Perhaps your child has displayed a skill for the first time, such as putting on their socks, or riding a bike? We love sharing these kind of experiences and achievements too!
