Learning Advice for Parents
Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read and write. It helps children hear, identify and use different sounds that distinguish one word from another in the English language.
In Nursery, we are building the strong foundations of phonics learning. We are doing this through all of our communication and language skills. Using our mouths to create sounds and our ears to listen to those sounds. We encourage children to distinguish between sounds that they can hear...these may be environmental like the siren of an ambulance or instrumental like from a drum, guitar or a piano. Or even body percussion like hands clapping or finger clicking! Sounds are all around us. Take the time to stop and listen carefully.

I Wonder What Sounds This Might Make?
I wonder if you might like to create your own small world for trains today. You might have some track like this wooden one, that needs connecting and joining.
You might like to create your own track using paper/card and pens, a bit like these ones…
Or using chalks, like this one?
Here is a song to sing when your trains are Down at the Station:

Peaceful Problem Solving
In Nursery we are learning the skills we need to get along with others, to compromise and about how to solve problems. This can be a challenge for such young children with different experiences. Peaceful problem solving starts with being an active listener.
If something happens that children do not like. We model how to use our words to help us. We say, "Stop, I do not like it!"

We Love to See Your Learning!
What could you share on Seesaw today?
Today, we would love to see your child drawing or making their track. Can they explain the different features they have used? Perhaps you could share a video of your child exploring oobleck? How do they feel about getting messy?
You are not limited to the ideas on the blog. Perhaps your child has displayed a skill for the first time, such as putting on their socks, or riding a bike? We love sharing these kind of experiences and achievements too!
