Learning Advice for Parents

Learning Focus

Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick:

It is sad when we, or someone we love gets sick.

Role play is a great way for children to explore and create experiences in a secure and safe way. Research has proven that by acting out situations that can be stressful in real terms, children develop confidence and stronger emotional literacy.

You might like to create a hospital, doctor or dentist role play that involves bandages, plasters, thermometers, stethoscopes and pretend creams or medicines to help someone get better. Our health workers are REAL superheroes!

Your ‘someone’ could be a dolly, or a dinosaur, or a truck or a train?

Promoting Independence

Toilet Training

Children all develop at different rates, so be wary of pushing too early.

Any child needs to be physically and psychologically ready for a new challenge.

In school we ‘try for five’ at regular toilet stops throughout the day. This means that children, whether in diapers or not, sit on the toilet and we count to 5.

Well done for trying!

Active Learning

The Bean Game

Are you ready to move like a chilli bean, a baked bean and a runner bean? Today we will play the bean game. Follow Ms Gemma as she shows you how to move like different beans.
