Thank you FSP for an amazing term, you have all grown so much since you started FS2 in August! It has been wonderful to see you make friends, learn our rules and routines and have so much fun learning. You are always very busy and have such great ideas for what you would like to do! Here are some photos which show how busy you have been..

Phonics
After the holidays we will begin learning our first Phonics sounds. Children are encouraged to begin 'blending' sounds into words straight away. Therefore, after being taught Set 1, the children will being reading, and making, words like ‘at, sat & pat’.
In Phase 2 children are taught 19 letters grouped into 5 sets:
Set 1 | s / a / t / p |
Set 2 | i / n / m / d |
Set 3 | g / o / c / k |
Set 4 | ck / e / u / r |
Set 5 | h / b / f, ff / l, ll / ss |
As children learn all the Sets in Phase 2, they will be able to read an increasing number of words.
We will be using the ‘Jolly Phonics’ songs in our lessons. The children will sing the rhymes and learn the actions. Here is the song for Set 1 if you would like to look at this at home.
I always love to see what the children have been up to and they love to share their adventures with their friends too. Please share any photos or videos from Half Term, so I can share them in our class after the holidays. It provides a perfect opportunity to develop your child's communication and language skills as well as demonstrate their understanding of the world.
Thank you parents for you support this term. I hope you all have a fantastic Half Term break and I look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday 24th October. FSP, have a very well deserved rest!
