Year 5 Newsletter 2nd February

2 Feb 2024

A note from the Principal The end of another busy week in Primary! We were so happy to see our Y4-Y6 students return safe, happy and perhaps a little tired from their Residentials. Next up, will be our Year 3 students when they head down to Pattaya next month. Next week, we look forward to our Lunar New Year celebrations and assembly on Friday and Fun Day on Saturday. Events such as these really bring us all together and help us celebrate our different backgrounds and experiences. I look forward to seeing you all there!

Well-Being

Lunar New Year Celebrations - Friday 9th February

Students can come to school in red or gold or a costume for the new year celebrations.

If students have PE for the first lesson, they should come to school in their PE kit and change into their costumes/dress up afterwards.

The assembly is scheduled for 10:10am in the Sports Hall.

There will be 50 chairs for parents on the Mezzanine (second floor) to watch the event.

Spelling

The next spelling test will be on Monday 5th February. Your child already has these.

Please remind your child to bring their spelling books with them every Monday and encourage them to learn the spellings.

Thank you for your support.

PE lessons

All students MUST bring their school uniform to change into after the lesson.

Due to health and safety reasons, it is highly recommended that students wear football boots for their Tee Ball lesson.

Any questions please do not hesitate to contact the PE Team - jaju@patana.ac.th.

Class Blogs and home learning

Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.
Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.
Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.

Global Citizenship

Events In The World

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show.  Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

Birthdays

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.

  • Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
  • Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
  • Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
  • Parents can join in the celebrations.
