Student Code of Conduct

This week, we reviewed the Student Code of Conduct during a PSHE lesson. Your child selected some trusted adults and they have signed the form. We have sent it home with your child. There is no need for them to send it back to school. We have asked them to keep it safe at home and to share it with you.

Reporting Covid cases and CSL provision

Please remember to contact the school nurse if your child tests positive for Covid. The school nurse will inform you of any quarantine requirements.

If your child is sick or has any Covid symptoms, please keep them at home and monitor them.

CSL online learning is only available to students who have tested positive for Covid or students who have been requested to quarantine at home.

Learning

Introduction to the Learning Presentations

Parents will be asked to wait in the Year 5 shared area. Leaders of Learning will greet you and direct you to your child's classroom just before the meeting commences.

Please note that there is limited supervision available in the year group area and the library. On the day, we ask that you allow your child/ren to go home as normal or that they join the presentation with you.

If you need to make changes to transport, please contact Transport@patana.ac.th directly.

The presentation will be published in class blogs for those parents who are not available to attend the meeting.

Class Blogs and home learning

Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.

Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.

Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.

PE curriculum

Please note that students can wear their PE kit to school on days when PE is before morning break time. They must remember to bring in their school uniform to get changed into afterwards.

When PE is after break, they should come to school in their school uniform.

Please use the table to find out which PE units of learning 5M has during Term 1a.

Swimming requires black colour only (any brand) swimsuit, swim hat (for hair longer than shoulder length), goggles and a towel. Rash vest optional.

Basketball requires Patana PE kit, sports shoes and water bottle.

STUDENTS NEED TO WEAR A DIFFERENT PAIR OF TRAINERS FOR PE - NOT SCHOOL SHOES EVEN IF THESE ARE TRAINERS.

Water Diary

As part of our new learning theme about water, students will be keeping a ‘Water Diary’ next week. For 7 days they will note down the times and purpose of their water use, then analyse their data in class to look for patterns. It would be helpful if you could support your child with this at home.

Interclass Basketball Year 5 and 6 - Monday 26th September - Add the date to your diary

Year 5 will have an Interclass basketball competition on the 26th September. Parents are welcome to come along to support.

More information to follow.

Swim Gala - Monday 10th October - Add the date to your diary

Year 5 will have a swim gala on the 10th October from 10:05 to 12:10pm in the 25m pool. Parents are welcome to come along to support the event.

Please ensure that you child brings in their swim suit, swim hat, googles, a towel and sun cream.

We look forward to celebrating this event with you.

Global Citizenship

Art bags

In Year 4, students in their Specialist Art classes learnt about the expressionist artist Jean Michel Basquiat, analysing his unique style. Students then got creative and made their own inspired Basquiat illustrations, portraits and paintings on paper, card, canvas, and fabric.

The fabric was sent to the Chiang Mai based community project BEAM over the holiday. BEAM empowers marginalised communities in northern Thailand through sewing skill development and is a wonderful organisation that we are grateful to have the opportunity to partner up with.

BEAM created these amazing tote bags with the Basquiat inspired fabric designs, and we think they look wonderful!

If you would like to purchase one, please send your child to school with 200b. They can choose their design, and all proceeds will go to BEAM to help support their all-important sewing skills education.

Thank you for supporting this charity.

Events In The World

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show.  Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

Birthdays

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.

  • Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
  • Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
  • Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
  • Parents can join in the celebrations.
