Year 5 Newsletter 17th June 2022

A huge thank you to the Year 5 parental body for your support throughout the year. Although we haven't been able to invite you into the classroom, we have felt your continued support. We are very proud of the Year 5 students who have worked hard this year to achieve their potential. Have a wonderful break, and we hope to see you all next year.

Well-being

Relationship and Sex Education

This week, we explored the idea of consent. Teaching students about consent is very important as it teaches them that they have control over their body. It also teaches them about how they can touch others and the fact that they must ask and give consent. We explored the idea of touch and private parts using a silhouette of the human body.

It's also important to use the correct scientific vocabulary when talking about body parts. Here is a reminder of the language that we have been using in school.

It's important to keep the conversation of consent going with your child in order to keep them safe and secure.

We also explored feelings about moving up to Year 6.

Learning

Please do not contact Year 6 class teachers about this.

Home Learning and Class Blogs

Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs.

Please encourage your child to complete their home learning. Each week, Mathletics tasks are set. These consolidate the week's learning. There is also a Literacy of Connected Learning task based on the learning.

This is posted on your child's class blog.

  • The proceeds of the sale will go towards the Year 4 Charity: Hill Tribes in Nan.
  • One key focus of the students’ products has been around sustainability.

Supporting our Year 12 students:

Message from CAS students:

We are a branch of a club called "Speaking Hub" and every year we aim to raise as much money as possible for them to buy equipment and host trips for us to donate every year. Each year, we separate the money equally and distribute to all 28 provinces. The schools we're supporting lack English education and supplies and as part of our project, we make flashcards for them every year.

We value and feel privileged to have this high level of quality education, therefore want to help distribute it throughout the whole of Thailand.

Please submit your entries before Friday 19th August 2022. You can bring the 300 thb to school in an envelop and hand this to your Year 6 class teacher or you can make the payment by clicking the link here.

Have fun being creative! Remember you could illustrate the story too or even create a comic strip.

Events In The World

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show.  Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

Birthdays

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.

  • Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
  • Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
  • Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats in their classroom.
  • Unfortunately, parents can not join in the celebrations.
  • Your child's class teacher will however share a photograph with you.
