Learning
Readers' Cup Final is coming up
We will have a Readers' Cup in class competition on the 17th November. The winning group will enter the final on the 24th November. Even though the winning team will represent the class, the rest of the class still have an important role as they can be called on to support the team.
Please encourage your child to continue reading the Readers' Cup books. Encourage them to make a quiz this weekend. We will use these in class next week.
PSHE
In PSHE this week, we have been learning about peer pressure and how much influence our peers can have on us. We looked at myths and truths surrounding peer pressure. Please do chat with your child about this.
From the ICT Team
Dear Families,
It was wonderful to see so many of you during the 3-way conference open day and we hope you got a glimpse as to what the children get up to in their IT lessons each week.
As there were so many visitors, we were not able to speak to everyone, so if you do have any questions, please feel free to email me.
Lots of people were interested in the resources and tools on show so I thought it would be helpful to share some links for you to explore with your children at home.
Everything listed below is free to use or can be accessed using your child's school email address and password.

PE and Sports Day
Watch this space for updates on Year 5 Sports Day which will be held on Monday 21st November from 7:40am to 12:10pm on the Primary back field and hardcourt areas. We look forward to celebrating the PE learning with you.
Children must change out of their PE kits after PE lessons. Please ensure that your child brings their uniform with them to school.
Children who have Cross Country during lunch time should come to school wearing their school uniform and change into their PE kit at the beginning of lunch time.
Class Blogs and home learning
Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.
Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.
Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.
Global Citizenship
Water Charity visit
On Tuesday the 22nd of November, we will welcome back to Bangkok Patana School representatives from one of our chosen Year 5 charities, Abercrombie and Kent Philanthropy. During the morning, the charity will deliver a presentation sharing their work across Southeast Asia, and how they use our donations to build wells in poor communities with limited access to clean water. Once we have learnt about wells in depth, all the children will participate in a collaborative STEM project in small teams to build water pipelines.
Mr Dan
International Day
International day is on Tuesday 15th November. We look forward to celebrating all nationalities through our parade and cultural show. All parents are welcome to join. Please sit upstairs in the Sports Hall.
Events In The World
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.
- Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
- Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
- Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
- Parents can join in the celebrations.
