Well-being
Getting plenty of sleep
What time does your child go to bed? Many students have shared that they go to bed quite late. Sleep is linked closely to mental health and well-being. A good night's sleep equals a good day's learning. Every morning, students in Year 5 complete a Zones of Regulation reflection. where they identify which zone they are in: blue, green, yellow or red.
Many share that they are in the blue zone because they are tired and not ready to learn. Use the chart below to see how many hours your child needs to be ready for learning.
Learning
Readers' Cup Final is coming up
We will have a Readers' Cup in class competition on the 17th November. The winning group will enter the final on the 24th November. Even though the winning team will represent the class, the rest of the class still have an important role as they can be called on to support the team.
Please encourage your child to continue reading the Readers' Cup books. Encourage them to make a quiz this weekend. We will use these in class next week.
PSHE
In PSHE this week, we have continued to learn about friendships in school and how to resolve friendship fires using peaceful problem solving strategies.
We explored many scenarios and discussed the issues that the friends have and how to solve these using peaceful problem solving.
PE
Children must change out of their PE kits after PE lessons. Please ensure that your child brings their uniform with them to school.
Children who have Cross Country during lunch time should come to school wearing their school uniform and change into their PE kit at the beginning of lunch time.
Class Blogs and home learning
Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.
Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.
Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.
Global Citizenship
Friendship Friday
Today, students celebrated friendships. We wrote notes to students in a parallel class. We hope to form new friendships and build deeper connections with existing friends through giving constructive honest feedback.
Donations collected today will be given to the following charity:
Loi Krathong
We will celebrate Loi Krathong on the 8th November. Students can come to school wearing a Thai clothes. We look forward to making krathongs and celebrating together.
Events In The World
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

Birthdays
We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.
- Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
- Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
- Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
- Parents can join in the celebrations.
