Year 4 Newsletter 17.05.24

We are motivated and engaged

A note from the Principal

Dear Parents,

It’s been a wet week here at Patana! Finally, we have seen the arrival of the annual rains and on Thursday lunchtime, we got to witness a magnificent downpour from our open plan canteen. Of course, this rain has led to some congestion on the roads and do plan extra time to your travels.

Our students have also enjoyed being ‘wet and wild’ during our end of year swim galas. Well done to the students and thank you to the PE team for making this a special event.

In the Patana News today, do look out for an article on Madagascar the Musical and I will also be sharing a letter with the staff leavers today.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead.

Sarah McCormack

RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) presentations for Primary Parents

Our RSE lessons will end next week (week beginning 20/05/24) with the Emotions and Feelings lesson.

Answering questions about sex and gender

Although sex and gender does not form a major part of our Primary RSE curriculum, students may have questions.

Our view is that genuine questions deserve a response - but the response may need thinking through first.

If a student asks a question in school, we may provide a brief response depending on age and context - or we may suggest that the question is better answered at home.

Definitions of sex and gender can be confusing, so you may find these agreed definitions and responses helpful.

Child friendly explanation of a person’s sex and gender

Please find a screencast of the presentation. The videos referenced throughout the screencast are below.

Here are some suggestions for how to talk with your child .

As we move through the curriculum, we will share information in the newsletter so that you are aware of what your child is going to learn.

If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself, sawv@patana.ac.th

Birthday Treats

Children may bring in a treat to share with the class.

Please contact the class teacher to arrange a suitable time.

Brownies, cupcakes, a donut or a slice of cake are all easy for your child to give out. All food items must be nut free.

Please reduce plastic packaging as much as possible.

Please note, we do not allow drinks, party bags or other gifts to be given out at school, either for birthdays, or other celebrations.
