Year 4 Newsletter 30th May

A note from the Principal

Note from the Principal

30-5-2025

This week has brought with it two standout moments of pride for our school community.

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending the FOBISIA Primary Sports Festival in Pattaya. It was a super day out for me—with our students showing determination, sportsmanship, and team spirit across every event. Their efforts, both on and off the field, were a credit to our school, and I am incredibly proud of how they represented Bangkok Patana.

Closer to home, we had the honour of hosting the FOBISIA Drama Festival for the very first time! Welcoming 16 schools from across the region, the festival created an exciting buzz on campus. Students have been working with the Divergent Theatre Company from London to stage a truly imaginative performance of Alice in Wonderland. This is an experience I know our young performers will remember for years to come..

Thank you to all the students, staff, coaches, and families who support these events. Weeks like this reflect the depth and richness of learning that happens beyond the classroom!

PSHE

This week in our PSHE lessons we learnt about our digital footprint. We learnt that everything we share online contributes to our digital footprint. We learnt that our online actions are permanent and that we should think twice before posting or sharing online. It is good to continue this conversation at home.

Next week, we will explore how important it is to recognise when something is fact or if it's advertising. We will explore the power of influencers and how to think critically about what they see online.

Hoodies or cardigans - please note

Students should wear a school issued blue cardigan if they are feeling cold in class. Please encourage them to tell the teacher if they are cold.

Class blogs

Each week, we publish class blogs. The purpose of these is to give you an insight into your child's learning and what is happening in Year 4. Please visit the class blog and discuss your child's learning with them.

Birthdays

Parents should not bring in class gifts, balloons, bubbles, whistles, games, drinks etc. Your child's class teacher will politely ask you to take these home with you. We enjoy celebrating birthdays by sharing a birthday treat such as donuts or cakes.

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus.

Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings. If you bring these in, unfortunately, we will have to send them home

Birthday Treats

  • Children may bring in a special treat to share with the class.
  • Please contact the class teacher to arrange a suitable time. In Year 4, you can do this on Monday or Wednesday as we have Spelling lessons on other days.
  • Brownies, cupcakes, small donuts, and cake slices are easier for your child to give out.
  • We do not give out drinks (e.g., bubble tea, sodas)
  • Please reduce plastic packaging.
  • We do not allow party bags or other gifts to be given out at school, either for birthdays, or other celebrations.

The following students celebrated their birthdays this week:

Sola

Umi

Ryan
