This week we have been celebrating those people who help to make our community a better place.

Well done to our PSHE Heroes below who were nominated by their classes as shining examples of this PSHE focus.

Learning

Term 1A

Please visit our Curriculum Pages for more information about learning in Year 4.

Literacy

In literacy the students are exploring a book called 'Here We Are' by the author Oliver Jeffers, which helps them to recognise how wonderful our world and our universe is.

The students have really enjoyed sharing some of the places from our planet that are special to them.

Over the next couple of weeks the students will use the book as inspiration to write a variety of different texts and practise some of their key writing skills.

Library Books

The library still have some outstanding books from last academic year. Please can we ask that our community helps to return these books by checking at home. If students are still reading them please return and renew them.

Musician of the Month

Every month Primary Music features a Musician of the Month during lessons. We include a diverse range of performers, arrangers and composers.

This month we are celebrating the music of Celia Cruz. Celia was born in Cuba in 1925 and moved to the US during the Cuban revolution. She became associated with ‘Salsa’ a Cuban dance music that became popular in the 1960s with her rhythmic singing and rich voice.

This week we are featuring Guantanamero - perhaps Cuba’s most famous song: https://youtu.be/W777MIR8-ko

General Information

The following students are celebrating their birthdays this week:

Glenda 4K

Jessica [Jessie] 4A

Axel 4T

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are asking students NOT to bring in any cakes from home to share with members of the class. We will however sing Happy Birthday at some point throughout the day and give them a birthday card.
