The children are really excited about our upcoming residential. We will be talking about the residential in class, discussing things they are looking forward to and things they are perhaps worried about. Please contact your child's class teacher if you have any questions.
No electronic devices or ‘tech wearables’ on Primary Residentials
We expect that all electronic devices are kept at home
during your child’s Primary Residential. This includes GPS trackers, mobile phones and smart watches
of any brand. Any electronic devices or tech wearables will be removed for
safekeeping by the accompanying staff and returned to you on our return. Please give yourselves permission to take a short break from
parenting duties whilst our wonderful teachers look after your child.
No ECAs for the next two academic weeks.
Due to our Residential Visits (lots of staff away), there will be no ECAs for the next two weeks. A letter has been sent home with more details. Please help your child to understand that their ECAs will stop for two weeks then start again the second week of Term 2B.
Our Musician of the Month for February is Yo-Yo Ma. An incredible cellist, Yo-Yo’s parents are from China and he has lived in the US for most of his life.
Yo-Yo is particularly interested in how music and culture can bring the world together. (See this article in Time magazine). He has participated in a number of projects aimed at highlighting how culture and music forge connections between people, for example The Bach Project(36 CONCERTS. 36 DAYS OF ACTION. 6 CONTINENTS.1 EXPERIMENT: HOW CULTURE CONNECTS US), Pop-up Performances for Essential Workers, Committee of 100 and numerous online and in-person educational appearances (including Sesame Street!).
Although Yo-Yo is classically trained, you can see him making music with a wide range of musicians and styles, most recently in an American Bluegrass group.
Feel free to use our special Youtube playlist or to find your own music. Happy listening!
Happy Birthday to the students celebrating their birthdays this coming week:
William 3H, Casper 3K
We wish you a super day!
We are now able to celebrate the children’s birthdays with them, as long as we follow these requirements:
- Individualised treats (cupcakes, donuts, etc) can be brought in either at the start of the day or the end of the day - teachers will not be able to cut pieces of cake to be given out
- No Nuts! Please ensure that any food items sent in do not contain nuts, or any traces of nuts. Please check the ingredients.
- No candles
Please liaise directly with your child’s class teacher to inform them if you will be bringing in treats for your child’s birthday.
All parent workshops are postponed for Term 2 and will be rescheduled for the next academic year as gatherings at conferences, seminars and presentations are currently limited to 100 people.
