Equipment for Today

  • Reading Book
  • Paper or card
  • Ruler
  • Pencil, scissors, sellotape
  • A jar, some beads, paperclips, buttons, lego or any other small objects. 
  • Colouring equipment

Lesson 1:Science and Maths - LI: Can I record my findings?

Following on from Fridays Blog!

Head to the kitchen and take your ice floe out of the freezer and put it on a tray. Decide on where you will leave your ice floe for the day. (Balcony, garden, kitchen etc.)

Challenge: Check on your ice flow every hour to see how many toys you can remove from your ice floe and record this by creating your own tally chart.

*Don't forget to use a ruler to draw your chart!

Here is an example of tally chart! 

Extra challenge: Create 2 ice floes and leave them in different locations to see if your data differs.

Time to have a mindful moment. Why not do some drawing or doodling? Or some colouring in - a great way to take a break.


Literacy- Can I perform a poem?

Challenge 1: Spend 15-20 minutes reading poems.

Your first challenge is to spend some quality time reading through poems, these can be funny poems, poems about food, poems about animals ...anything that interests you!

Random Acts of Kindness challenge

Challenge: Start today by choosing some acts of kindness and writing them down as a list.

Examples of Kind acts: Click to Reveal

Examples of Kind acts:

Say please and thank you

Put away your things.

Make a snack or drink for somebody.

Read a story to a younger brother or sister.

Smile at someone

Give somebody a hug

Help someone without being asked

Pick a flower for someone

Make a card to brighten someone’s day

Write a positive message on a pebble for someone to find

Kindness Activity - Can I make a Kindness Jar?

  • You will need to find an empty jar or tin.

  • Make a label “Kindness”, decorate it and stick it on the jar.

  • Find a supply of beads, buttons,paperclips, counters or something small. (keep these away from babies)

  • Store the ‘Kindness Jar’ where your family can see it.

  • Each time you or someone in your family carries out an act of kindness, place a bead or button in the jar. Soon your jar will start to fill with beads or buttons.

  • At the end of the week count how many beads or buttons your family collected.

Please note that children will need to use junk boxes this Thursday for our D&T/Geography project. Please keep and recycle household rubbish this week in order to have enough. Thank you :)
