Living our school values:

We are Diverse!

A special thank you to the PTG and other members of our community who made International Day such a special community event. Our students loved seeing all the different nations, hearing and experiencing their different cultures, and also trying some of the delicious treats from around the world.

A note from the Principal

A highlight of this week, perhaps even the term, was International Day on Tuesday. With over 60 nationalities represented in our parade, six cultures highlighted in the cultural show, and a huge variety of country cuisine in the Food Hall, it really was quite spectacular. A huge thank you to PTG, Marketing, Building and Grounds, ISIT, and all those who helped to organise this special occasion.

The return of International Day, and other events and activities, is perhaps a barometer that the worst of the pandemic appears to be behind us. As we emerge from the malaise of the last few years, it is so wonderful to see the energy, vibrancy, happiness, and human connection that these occasions bring.

Down in Nursery, they have also been experiencing the joys of life and I invite you to enjoy our video footage of one of our class butterflies emerging from its cocoon. Thank you to Mr Jeck for setting up a GoPro to capture this sight!

Learning

Green Spaces

Our current theme for learning is 'Green Spaces'.

Please visit the Y2 Curriculum page to find out more.

Our students are growing seeds in school in the hope that they can create a green space on the roof of the year 2 building. If you have any seeds at home we would love to use them to see what plants we could nurture and grow.

If you do please sned them into class with the students!

PE - Swimming Lessons

The swimming team has been busy planning fun, active and engaging lessons for our KS1 students. This a reminder that our swimming lessons are an important part of our curriculum, especially for physical development, water confidence, and water safety.

If for any reason your child cannot swim, please inform your class teacher, and include a medical note so that they can inform Miss Zoe (PE curriculum lead) and the swim team.

Should you have any concerns about your child's swimming please do contact us and we can arrange a meeting with Miss Zoe to discuss these concerns further.

Christmas Shoe Box Appeal

Each year, at this time, Year 2 parents and children have put together a Christmas Shoebox which contains a selection of small gifts for the children at our charity, Children of the Forest. I am very pleased to inform you that we will be putting shoeboxes together again this Christmas.

Children of the Forest is a registered charity close to the Thai-Myanmar border, that supports stateless and homeless children with education, healthcare, and welfare. Your kindness and support will make a big difference in improving the life chances of these children. The shoeboxes help to bring huge joy to children who would otherwise not receive a gift.

We are hoping that you would be kind enough to put together a shoebox, with the following contents.

- Toothbrush and toothpaste

- Soap and shampoo

- Face cloth

- Coloured pencils or crayons

- Colouring book(s) or sketchbook(s)

- Candy packets or sweets (No Chocolate)

- Small toy suitable for either a boy or girl.

Please ensure all items are new and clean.

Please do not seal or wrap the box as children will make wrapping paper and a card to go inside.

Please try to involve your child in the process by selecting or purchasing the gifts.

Please send your shoebox into school by Friday 9th December.
