A note from Mrs McCormack (Primary Principal):
3 November 2023
A note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
I hope this finds everyone well. A couple of highlights to share with you this week. On Tuesday, Peter Taylder and I presented to almost 200 parents on our vision for Assessment and Reporting. It was a great session, where we looked at the new CAT 4 data and the upcoming changes to the report templates. The powerpoint can be found on the Parent Gateway and here. There will be another workshop exploring this theme on Tuesday, 28 November.
In our assemblies we have been considering ‘what makes us special’. We had a sneak peek at some of some of our 243 student FlipGrid videos (so far!) and considered how we can all contribute to our community of kindness. We love when parents join our assemblies as it helps us to reinforce our values and gives parents an opportunity to see what we are learning. This is a wonderful story on belonging and we would love everyone to re-watch it at home.
This busy Principal is off to Kuala Lumpur today for the Fobisia leadership conference!

Learning
New Theme of Learning - Green Spaces
The Big Idea
We live in a big, busy, bustling city but it didn't used to be like that. Urban habitats develop gradually and their development is led by humans. Through a closer look at 'The Secret Sky Garden' and using their enquiry skills, the children will explore, investigate and discover how the world around them has changed and if that change was always for the better.
The Driving Question:
How has the world around me changed?

Junk Modelling Resources Required
Our Junk modelling boxes need restocking. If you have any recycling at home please send it to school with your children so we can continue to re-use it in new and imaginative ways!

General Information
Snacks before ECAs
Sometimes the students are hungry after a long day at school and before their ECA begins.
Teachers allow the students time at the end of the day whilst lining up and waiting for their provider to eat their snack if they need it.
Please make sure this snack is in their bag for them to eat independently without support. This snack should be a healthy snack.
Students should not be bringing sweets/candy into school
If you wish to see your child before their ECA please email the class teacher in advance so they can hand them over to you whilst ensuring all other children are safely taken to their ECA providers.
