Well-being
Our playgrounds are not for use before or after school. Please do not let your child play on them. If you have helpers pick up your child, please explain to them that the children are not allowed to use the playground at all.
We do not want any accidents so your support with this is much appreciated.
Learning
High Frequency Word lists (Purple books)
The purpose of these lists is for the children to be able to sight read each of these words. If they are still needing to sound the word out (either out loud or in their head), they need some more time with the word.
There are fun ways that your child can engage with this. You could put the words on cards and play a game of Go Fish.
The words could be put on cards so that there are two of each word for a memory matching game, They can search for the words on their list in a book- some children may like to do this with a timer.
If a word is particularly tricky, you could encourage your child to take an imaginary photograph of it to help remember the shape of the word.
Revisit all the lists so far and check that they are still recognising the words at first sight and not needing to sound them out.
These words are also taught in our phonics sessions so your child will receive exposure in home and school.
Music
The Primary Music Department is very excited to announce the first “Primary Performance Week” will be happening from 6th-16th October.
This is an opportunity for students who are having lessons on a musical instrument to share a short performance with their class. For Years 1-2 to this will happen in their normal class music lesson.
Children do not need to sign up, they should simply bring their music and instrument to the class on the timetabled day.
Please see below for the timetable of performances:
Tuesday 6th 1M, 1J, 1P, 1W, 2A, 2B,
Monday 12th 1B, 1K, 1T, 2J
(Tuesday 13th October is a holiday)
Wednesday 14th 1R, 2L
Thursday 15th 2K, 2S, 2N
Friday 16th 2M
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to share their talents, build confidence and perform in front of a small, supportive audience. Unfortunately on this occasion we will not be able to accommodate parents.
Should you have any questions regarding this event, please contact Mr Charlie chmc@patana.ac.th
Learning in Term 1B- Let's celebrate!
We will be looking at celebrations in our families and around the world. Our main driving question is 'How are the celebrations in my family similar to celebrations in other families?' To find out more, here is the link to our curriculum page.
Global Citizenship
We are delighted that we can once again help with your recycling and accept items from home for our junk modelling boxes. We appreciate boxes, cardboard rolls, containers of all shapes and sizes and anything else that you know will spark creativity. Please ensure that things are rinsed and clean.
Thanks so much for your support!
