Next week, our remaining classes will have their class and individual photographs taken.  The schedule is as follows:

Monday 24th January - 1J, 1G

Tuesday 25th January- 1N

Well-being

Please ensure that you monitor your child for any Covid-19 symptoms throughout the week.  We also ask that you communicate with your child's teacher as soon as possible if they need to be absent from school for any reason.  We appreciate your support with this.

Learning

Swimming lessons

This term, your child will have 2 PE days and 1 Swimming day.  On their swimming day, they wear their normal school uniform and have their swimming kit in their bags to change into.

Swimming days are as follows:

Tuesday: 1M

Wednesday: 1P, 1K, 1R, 1S

Thursday: 1N, 1J, 1G.

In Key Stage 1, the children do NOT need shoes in their swimming bag.

They change at the pool so there is no need to pack shoes for them.

Global Citizenship

Did you know that you can send used batteries in to school to be properly disposed of?  Each classroom has a collection point which is then taken to a central location to be disposed of.

We are also very keen to make use of any materials that you may be able to send in for our junk modelling.  The students will be making things for their Lego characters next week and it would be great to have these resources topped up.

General Information

The Dance Academy's annual dance showcase better known as the Dance Extravaganza is set to take place on 6th and 7th of June 2022 and the sign up has begun! The academy uses ECA Block 3 & 4 to prepare for the show. To sign up for the show, students must sign up for Block 3 via parent gateway. The Academy coaches are committed to creating a wonderful show for both primary and secondary students. The one thing dancers of all levels love and deserve is their moment on stage. Due to covid19, this wonderful opportunity couldn't be made available as we couldn't host this major event for the past two years. Any ECAs which are cancelled due to Covid will be refunded as will costume fees if the show does not go ahead. Just like with all things learning and education, we do believe dance is best experienced face to face and supporting kids who love dancing/stage to do just that, whilst still maintaining covid19 related protocols is our aim this year. Dance can have a major positive impact on mental and physical health so let's get moving together!

Lots of information about our day-to-day organisation can be found in the Welcome to Year 1 booklet.  Most of this information is still relevant,  even with necessary COVID measures in place.

Birthdays

Birthday Treats

Children may bring in a special treat to share with the class. Unfortunately, parents cannot come in to celebrate with their child. The class teachers will do their best to send you a photograph.

Please contact the class teacher to arrange a suitable time.

• Brownies and cupcakes are easier for your child to give out.

As school policy, the staff will not be able to help give out party bags or other gifts either for birthdays or on other special celebration days.

We have two birthdays to celebrate this week.  Happy birthday to Pan in 1J for the 26th and Tay in 1P for the 27th of January.  We hope you both have super days.
