Living our Values

We are kind, compassionate and respectful

Thank-you for supporting our charity event, Friendship Friday, today.  We had a lovely day and have made some cards to send to the children at their Klong Toey school.  The funds Y1 raised today will go towards a school roof and a community garden.

Well-being

Mornings

Before school, all the Year 1 children will need to wait on the Y1/2 playground. Bus monitors will walk them there. Parents and helpers, please help your child to find their classroom to leave their bag outside (1P, 1K, 1S and 1M) or their mats to leave their bags on (1R, 1J, 1G and 1N). At 7:30, when it is time to come in, class teachers will help the students to line up and come inside. Unfortunately, we cannot have any adults in the building so be prepared to say a cheerful goodbye on the playground.

Afternoons

Parents and helpers can be on campus at 2:15.  The Y1 students being picked up will be ready at 2:20 and must be collected from their classroom door.

1R, 1J, 1G and 1N are all on the same side as the Primary Office

1P, 1K, 1S and 1M are all on the playground side.

Any bus users will be taken to their bus by the Year 1 team.

Global Citizenship

Loy Krathong

Next Friday students are invited to wear Thai clothing or traditional dress for Loy Krathong.  We cannot have the usual big celebration but we will still ensure that the students learn about Loy Krathong in their class activities next week.

Learning

We will be back on a normal timetable with specialists so a very full day for your child.  We will transition them as much as possible this week, ensuring that there are plenty of opportunities for them to ease back into this full day.

PE and Swimming Days (No swimming for now- it is an extra PE session)

On days when your child has PE or swimming, they should come into school in their PE kit and bring a spare mask for PE. Please ensure that your child always has spare masks in their bags.

They will wear their mask when walking to their PE lesson and keep it on during instruction and whilst practicing low intensity skills. They will be allowed to remove their mask if the teacher instructs them to do so.

There is no need to change back into school uniform on these days.

Reading books

Levelled readers will be sent home 3 times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please return any readers from FS that you have at home when your child returns to school. We will send them over to FS for you.

Resource packs

Please return all equipment which was sent home in our resource packs. We do not need any card, paper or board games back but would like all the Maths equipment (dice, counters and Numicon) as well as scissors and whiteboards. Please keep sound mats at home if you would like to. If you have been using the High Frequency Words (purple book) with your child, please send that in. If not, do not worry- we will start them off in school.

General Information

Break times and lunch times

Y1 students will be provided with a morning snack.

The school will provide a packed lunch for those on the set lunch programme.  You are welcome to send in a packed lunch for your child if you would prefer to.  We will ensure that they take this to lunch with them.  Vegetarian lunches are provided and if your child has dietary allergies, they will receive a named lunch pack.  Please ensure that you have listed any severe allergies as critical via the Parents' Gateway and please ensure that all medical and dietary data is up-todate.  It would be very helpful if you communicated any lunch concerns/dietary needs with your child's class teacher.

Lots of information about our day-to-day organisation can be found in the Welcome to Year 1 booklet.  Most of this information is still relevant,  even with necessary COVID measures in place.
